The Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMC) has officially rebranded to the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC)—marking the dawn of a bold new era defined by leadership, innovation, and sustainability in Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.
This transformation is not just a change in name, but a strategic evolution that reinforces COMAC’s position at the forefront of the sector. With over two decades of impactful work in policy advocacy and operational best practices—through strong collaborations with the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and other stakeholders—this rebranding aims to amplify visibility, deepen industry influence, and reflect the Chamber’s commitment to fueling Ghana’s energy future.
Speaking at the rebranding and Executive Revellers Night held at the prestigious Alisa Hotel in Accra, Dr. Riverson Oppong, Chief Executive Officer of COMAC, emphasized that the rebranding is more than cosmetic—it's a reaffirmation of purpose.
“As we step into a new era as COMAC, I want to assure you that we remain steadfast in our commitment to the vision and mission you so diligently crafted. Our roots will never be forgotten; instead, they will serve as the compass that guides us forward into a future of continued growth and excellence,” he said.
Dr. Oppong further highlighted that the name “Chamber” evokes professionalism, unity, and credibility—values that align seamlessly with the organization’s mission to empower the petroleum industry and support national development.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, Minister of State for Energy, Hon. Herbert Krapa, commended COMAC’s commitment to sustainable growth and its pivotal role in stabilizing the industry, especially during challenging periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr. William Tewiah, Board Chairman of COMAC, described the rebranding as a bold leap forward:
“This is more than a transformation of identity—it is a call to action. A call for industry players to embrace innovation, deepen collaboration, and uphold environmental responsibility. COMAC invites all stakeholders to join hands in shaping a brighter, more sustainable future for Ghana’s energy landscape.”
The New COMAC Logo: A Symbol of Vision and Purpose
The newly unveiled COMAC logo, revealed in a grand LED presentation, features a stylized oil droplet in vibrant red, green, and yellow—Ghana’s national colours—each symbolizing a core value:
Red: Energy, power, and urgency—reflecting the dynamic nature of the petroleum sector.
Green: Sustainability and environmental responsibility—underscoring the Chamber’s commitment to greener practices.
Yellow: Optimism, growth, and prosperity—representing the industry’s role in Ghana’s economic development.
The logo launch was followed by a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony led by the CEO and Board Members, celebrating unity and ushering in this exciting new chapter.
Honouring Excellence & Looking Ahead
As part of the celebration, industry pioneers were honoured for their outstanding contributions and service. The evening also featured a preview of the upcoming Downstream Dialogue, an innovative platform aimed at fostering deeper engagement, insight sharing, and strategic collaboration within the sector.
Stakeholders, including representatives from the NPA, Chamber of Petroleum Consumers, and other key institutions, delivered goodwill messages, commending COMAC’s rebranding as timely and necessary for enhanced sectoral advocacy and industry-wide growth.
