The COMAC Downstream Dialogue 2025 was successfully held on Tuesday, February 18 and Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra, This two-day flagship event, organised by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on pressing issues and outline a sustainable path forward for Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
The dialogue welcomed a distinguished lineup of speakers and panelists, including:
Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition (Special Guest)
Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, Esq., CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA)
Senyo Hosi, CEO of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD)
Benjamin Boakye, Executive Director, Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP)
Nana Amoasi VII, Executive Director, Institute for Energy Security (IES)…alongside several other industry captains, experts, and policymakers.
Day One focused on critical areas such as policy development and regulatory reform, local content and participation, and the energy transition in the downstream sector.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Gabriel Kumi, Managing Director of Pacific Oil and Chairman of COMAC, acknowledged the numerous challenges facing the sector — including regulatory bottlenecks, restrictive policies, global price volatility, infrastructure deficits, and financial limitations. Yet, he stressed that these challenges also offer unique opportunities for innovation, strategic collaboration, and transformational policy frameworks.
Through interactive panel sessions and robust networking engagements, the Dialogue sought to develop actionable strategies to address these challenges and unlock new growth opportunities for the industry.
Mr. Kumi expressed deep appreciation to all participants, particularly the Honourable Minister and the NPA CEO, for their active support and commitment to collaboration toward a resilient and forward-looking downstream petroleum industry.
